At Northwest, we believe that every Christian is a “ministry somebody” empowered by the Holy Spirit. We love to support the ministry efforts of our church family as we pray, provide financial partnership, and help people know how to get involved.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations”… Matthew 28:19
Duane and Sharon Miller, Anglican Frontier Missions
Duane and Sharon have been mission partners with NWCC for two decades. After learning Arabic in Jordan they were invited to Nazareth, a Muslim-majority Arab city in Israel. Duane helped to found an evangelical seminary there and Sharon spent summers focusing on reaching children with the gospel through local Vacation Bible School programs.
After some five years in Israel they returned to the USA. Based out of San Antonio, Duane taught widely on Islam and Christianity and reached out to local Muslims. They both helped to train people for cross-cultural ministry.
In 2017 they moved to Madrid, having been invited to be part of a church planting team hoping to reach young Europeans in post-Christian Spain. Duane serves as professor of Old Testament at the Protestant Faculty of Theology at Madrid. Sharon serves on the leadership board of a Christian community center in downtown Madrid where she also directs the English program and is a member of the worship team. She is also worship leader at Trinity International Church.
Duane and Sharon are also founding co-pastors of Kanisa, an Arabic-speaking Christian community in Madrid. Both are involved in training local Christians to reach Muslims with the Good News.
Duane holds a PhD in Divinity (focus, world Christianity) from the University of Edinburgh and Sharon holds a BS in Mathematics. Both have diplomas in Arabic. They have a son in his 20s and two teenage daughters, all of whom are active in ministry in different ways. Duane is author of Living among the Breakage, Two Stories of Everything, and I will Give them an Everlasting Name. If you would like to receive their ministry updates contact Duane through his blog or Twitter.
Jonathan and Trista Miller, Holsby Bible School and Conference Center
Jonathan and Trista serve with Holsby, a one-year international Bible school and retreat center located in southern Sweden. It is a part of the larger network of Torchbearer Bible schools and retreat centers worldwide. Jonathan serves as the principal of the Bible school with students ages 18+ in the Bible school program and kids of all ages in the camp ministry. Trista has a teaching and discipleship ministry through a variety of channels to students, guests and staff at Holsby.
Students in the Bible school come to Holsby wanting to study the Bible and form a foundation for their lives. Holsby is a life changing gap-year program for so many students who go back into the work force as torchbearers for Christ or choose to go into vocational ministry. Our Bible school program is intended to nurture a relationship with Jesus Christ. Our students understanding of God and His word grows through weekly lectures that cover various topics and books of the Bible. The integration of God’s word into daily life is cultivated through daily interaction with staff, guest lecturers and the Holsby community. Through weekly outreaches and the establishing of lifelong habits of prayer, Bible reading and service, students are better equipped to know and serve the Lord.
Along the Bible school program for five months out of the year, Holsby opens its doors to youth and families with a specific outreach to confirmation groups. In Sweden, many 15-year old’s choose to go through the confirmation process because of traditional/cultural pressure. Camp Holsby gets the golden opportunity of sharing the truth and love of Jesus with groups of young people who would otherwise NOT walk through the doors of a church. You can read more about their ministry at holsby.org and campholsby.se.
