Welcome from the Pastor

Hello Friends,

Click here for a video message from Pastor Dave Smith.

As you see from our name, we consider ourselves to be a “community” church. And what, exactly, does that mean?

Well, it means that we champion the biblical priority of Jesus-centered community. Community, as the Bible describes it, involves deep, genuine relating and “iron-against-iron” friendships where strength is developed as sparks sometimes fly. It means that we’re all about serious burden-bearing and soul-to-soul encouragement. This is the kind of community we are in the process of becoming.

In addition, by including “community” in our name, we mean to say that we are here for the community in which God has placed us.

Our nearest community is Northwest San Antonio – and we are working hard to serve this community in a variety of ways. Our vision is to be the church that people identify as they drive up Guilbeau Road as the church that:
► gave me groceries.
► showed me the love of God in Christ.
► helped get my family back together.
► assisted me in overcoming an addiction.
► prayed for me in my illness.
► served me when I needed help.
► provided direction to my children.

We also want to be the church that is here for our larger community – greater San Antonio and beyond. We do this by partnering with local groups like Youth for Christ, serving the poor and the homeless, and by supporting people who are strategically serving Christ around the globe.

Our passion for community comes straight from our understanding of what the Bible teaches. At Northwest, we don’t take ourselves all that seriously. But we do take the Bible seriously. We intend to learn it, love it, live it – and let it loose!

Wherever you are on your spiritual journey – maturing follower of Jesus or just curious about God – we invite you to visit us and see what we mean by “the passionate pursuit of life-changing relationships with God, with each other and with our world.”

You are the reason we are here. So, if “community” is what you are looking for, look us up.

Yours…His,
Dave Smith
