Hurricane Harvey Volunteer OpportunityWritten by Robert Treadwell on Sep 01, 2017 in - No Comments
We have reports that all fifteen of the EFCA churches along the Gulf Coast in Texas have sustained damage to some degree. One of these churches in Houston, Trinity Fellowship (in the Friendswood area – southeast part of town), has suffered some damage to the church building, and nearly twenty families in the church have had enough damage that they are out of their homes.
I spoke with Trinity’s pastor, Bob DeGray, this morning (Thursday). He told me that work crews would be welcomed, and the EFCA Crisis Response team has encouraged that at this time, churches (like ours) work directly through churches (like Trinity) when organizing work crews.
So, here at Northwest we are putting together a team to go to Houston to serve Trinity Fellowship and its neighbors. The team would be leaving on Sunday afternoon and returning late on Tuesday.
Trinity is able to accommodate as many as 6-8 people on this team. We could take shovels and sheet rock saws, hammers and hand saws and rakes. In addition, masks and latex gloves plus work gloves and boots will be needed as the team will be mainly “gutting” houses as they share the love of Jesus.
Please respond to this email by writing me (email@example.com) to let me know if you are available to serve on this team. And I’ll be posting to the website and to the church Facebook page a list of supplies you can donate on Sunday morning if you are unable to travel.
